Die dort lebenden M\u00f6nche nahmen aktiv an allen Befreiungsk\u00e4mpfen Kretas teil. 1940 nahmen die deutschen Soldaten die M\u00f6nche gefangen und pl\u00fcnderten das Kloster, wobei sie eines der wichtigsten Gegenst\u00e4nde stahlen, das Timios Stavros (Heiliges Kreuz), das Jahre sp\u00e4ter zur\u00fcckgegeben wurde. Das Klostermuseum verf\u00fcgt \u00fcber bedeutende Ausstellungen wie mehr als 100 Ikonen, von denen einige aus dem fr\u00fchen 17.
